Summary
Our client is seeking a Database Administrator to join their team in Richfield, OH. This role supports the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of enterprise databases across multiple platforms including Linux/Unix and Windows environments. You will play a key part in ensuring database reliability, performance, and data integrity while supporting mission-critical applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-to-senior-level DBA to work in a highly collaborative and impactful environment with leading database platforms such as PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain relational and logical databases across host-based and client/server platforms.
Install, upgrade, and configure Postgres and SQL Server environments.
Support internal developers and commercial product teams in optimal database use.
Monitor system performance and perform tuning to ensure adherence to standards.
Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery strategies, including conducting restore tests.
Assist in data modeling, security management, and backup/recovery planning.
Provide technical support to clients, vendors, and internal teams regarding database-related issues.
Develop and maintain support tools, technical documentation, and change control procedures.
Work closely with the Infrastructure Technology team on hardware/software planning and patch management.
Enforce security policies, manage user access, and protect sensitive data.
Contribute to Rapid Continuous Improvement (RCI) efforts focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost savings.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 6–8 years of hands-on experience with:
PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server database administration
Supporting open-source database solutions
Working in Linux/Unix and Microsoft Windows server environments
Collaborating with internal/external developers and customers
Knowledge of Oracle applications is a plus.
Strong understanding of infrastructure management, including CPU, memory, storage, and security.
Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
Must be available for off-hours support and able to carry a mobile device.
Able to lift up to 60 lbs. and travel to remote company sites as needed.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Industry certifications (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
Experience with open-source and enterprise-level database technologies
Familiarity with backup tools, system monitoring, and compliance requirements
