About the Opportunity
Argo Recruiting is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join a growing commercial construction organization specializing in complex commercial, industrial, and federal projects.
This position offers the opportunity to manage projects from award through completion while working alongside experienced field leadership, subcontractors, and executive management. The ideal candidate is an organized leader with strong technical construction knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to successfully deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead construction projects from preconstruction planning through project closeout and commissioning.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to become the subject matter expert for assigned projects.
- Assume full responsibility for project execution following contract award.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and manage project documentation, including:
- Schedule of Values (SOV)
- Purchase Orders
- Quality Control Plans
- Accident Prevention Plans
- Waste Management Plans
- Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Submittals
- Drawing revisions
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve construction challenges to minimize delays.
- Provide technical guidance and ongoing support to Superintendents and field teams.
- Travel to project sites as required.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with contract requirements, project specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Promote a culture of safety while maintaining compliance with OSHA and federal safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and quality audits.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to control costs, schedules, and compliance.
- Maintain quality assurance standards throughout every phase of construction.
Project Closeout
- Coordinate project commissioning activities.
- Manage completion of punch list items with subcontractors and field personnel.
- Prepare and submit final payment applications.
- Deliver complete closeout documentation, including:
- As-built drawings
- Operation & Maintenance manuals
- Equipment warranties
- Project turnover documentation
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of commercial or industrial construction project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at $500,000 or more.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors, vendors, and construction trades simultaneously.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Strong understanding of:
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems
- HVAC and plumbing
- Structural construction
- Civil construction
- Earthwork
- Concrete and steel construction
- Interior finishes
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.

- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience managing federal government construction projects
- Knowledge of VA or other government construction standards and compliance requirements
- Mechanical construction project management experience
- Experience managing both public and private sector construction projects
